So intense.

Wow. the newer one packs more intensity, sincerity and passion into three minutes than the older one can summon in 10 minutes. And the rain is amazing.
That's true, although I think the older one is much truer to how Austen described the scene. Still, I appreciate the very slight modern twist of the 2005 version. And actually, Keira Knightley is very fiery, just the way I'd imagined Elizabeth. Full of life and passion, but very sensible, unlike her younger sisters.

OOooooh. This is excellent! Thank you for sharing the compare&contrast!

What did you think of the differences? I have to think that the 1995 version was more as the author envisioned... or at the very least as the setting of the story dictated. I also find the quiet thoughtfulness of Elizabeth in the older version to pack more punch for me because I remember how I felt as I read the scene (ever so long ago, yet still powerful in some hidden nook of my brain which I wasn't aware of!) despite the flamboyant and fiery nature well played by Keira. It was the hidden simmering of Elizabeth that was familiar to me when I read the story.

However... My, oh my, how the new one grips my guts and appeals to my emotions. It is fascinating, the two totally different moods in these same scenes.

Now I'm craving some
In the first version the actress reminded me of the actress who played Jane In the version of 'Jane Eyer" or erye or eryr what ever, that i liked so much.
I love Jane Eyre. The beginning of novel makes me cry, it's so sad! I've only seen the ending of the movie though.
I would agree with you, Rok. The 1995 version is much more faithful to how Austen described the scene. But I appreciate the 2005 adaptation anyway. Keira Knightley and Matthew MacFadyen have great chemistry with each other. I love the story of Pride and Prejudice no matter how it is told :D
